Sollicitatie:

Lubiproston is een hoog aangeschreven chloridekanaalactivator in gastro -intestinale geneesmiddelen. Het kan het vloeistofgehalte in de darm vergroten, waardoor de darmmotiliteit wordt bevorderd. Het werkingsmechanisme is het activeren van het CIC -2 chloride -ionkanaal in het apicale membraan van gastro -intestinale epitheelcellen, wat leidt tot een toename van chloride -ionenafscheiding, vergezeld van waterabsorptie, waardoor de hoeveelheid vloeistof in het lumen uiteindelijk toeneemt.
Lubiproston oefent voornamelijk lokale effecten uit in de darm en wordt zelden in het hele lichaam geabsorbeerd. In de klinische praktijk wordt het veel gebruikt om chronische constipatie en prikkelbare darmsyndroom te behandelen.
